Xzibit tells story about wild tour shooting with Big Pun on tour

West Coast legend Xzibit recently sat down for an in-depth interview about his career and experiences in the music industry. During his conversation, he opened up about some of the more crazy encounters, and one of his stories involved Terror Squad protégé Big Pun.

Furthermore, it involved guns, cops and a bullet-riddled tour bus. While speaking on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Xzibit reflected on the time he went on tour with the Capital Punishment creator and talked about their first time on the road.

Recalling the road trip, Xzibit told Kev, “We went out on this first promo tour together. We had two buses. I think we were on the East Coast, working our way to Detroit or Flint. Their bus breaks down, and Pun has his family with him, so he’s like, ‘Let me get on the bus.’ So they’re all on my bus.”

The ‘What U See Is What U Get’ rhymer detailed how he knew it was going to be an interesting night as Pun’s family was large in numbers. Still, Xzibit recalled how they were constantly attempting to get a hotel for their stay, telling Bootleg Kev, “I knew that night was gonna be crazy, but I didn’t know at the beginning of the day how crazy it was gonna get. So they’re trying to get to the hotel to get checked in ’cause they don’t wanna be on our bus anymore ’cause they feel like they’re impeding.”

The California emcee remembered how a man named Jheri turned up and showed some annoyance at the situation the family was in, continuing, “They called a car, and this old school n*gga with a Jheri curl jumps out, he pulled up in a limousine. He gets out with an attitude and it’s like watching a silent movie — you could tell by the body language that he didn’t like what was happening.”

Xzibit continued, “He was like, ‘All you muthafuckas can’t get in my car!’ The whole Terror Squad’s with [Pun]. I see the dude throw his hands up, and I’m like, ‘Oh, this not gonna end good!’ And all the Terror Squad n*ggas come and start chasing this n*gga round the car. It’s like the best shit ever [laughs].”

Xzibit’s story then skips to later that night during the concert. This time it was a Big Pun affiliate, Boobie, who was causing problems. Reflecting on the incident, the Restless rapper added, “There’s a guy named Boobie the Boxer that’s a part of TS. He was on stage with Pun. Boobie’s addressing something in the front row; they’re having another silent movie [laughs].”

He continued, “Then somebody throws something, and now there’s a fight, and the fight’s coming on stage. And somebody from the team pulls out a gun and fires it right into the air. Bow! This n*gga pulled it out of a briefcase in the middle of the stage!”

After fans fled the venue in a panic, Xzibit managed to get back to hisbus in one piece, but he quickly discovered the police had arrived, remembering, “[The shooter] throws the muthafucking [gun] in the dumpster, but there’s no trash in the dumpster so [you hear clanking]. The [cops] walk right up to it and shine the flashlight on it like, ‘Who threw it?’ So everybody’s in cuffs.”
