Xzibit’s ex-wife sues him over alleged secret sale of weed company
Xzibit has been sued by his ex-wife for allegedly selling their stake in a cannabis brand.
Krista Joiner was married to the rapper between 2014 and 2021, but filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband on January 15th.
She claims she played a key role in monetising Brass Knuckles while accusing Xzibit of taking drugs and having an affair.
In the complaint, filed in California federal court, Krista alleges he violated his restraining order by secretly selling their joint stake in the business.
According to Billboard, three trademarks were allegedly sold for $724,000 in 2023. However, Krista claims she didn’t find out about the sale until a year later and received nothing.
The lawsuit reads, “To this day, Krista Joiner has not consented to the sale of the Brass Knuckles brand, nor has she been asked by anyone for her consent to any sale or assignment of her community property interest.”
Brass Knuckles was founded in 2016, with the lawsuit stating that the company was worth $100 million as early as 2018.
The suit continues, “[Krista] was instrumental in ensuring that the operations of the brand began and continued smoothly, given that her then-husband had no business experience other than as a rapper from the 1990s and a part-time actor with a cancelled show, who smoked marijuana constantly and who had filed for bankruptcy twice.”
Krista filed for divorce in 2021 after allegedly finding out that Xzibit had been “carrying on a long-term adulterous affair.” The former couple share two children, Xavier and Gatlyn. Xzibit also has another son named Tremayne from a previous relationship.
His latest album, Kingmaker, was released in May 2025 with features from Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, Redman, and many others.
