Wu-Tang Clan offer refunds to fans over rapper no-shows
Wu-Tang Clan have offered refunds to fans in Australia after various members of the group failed to appear at a recent show.
The legendary hip-hop group brought their Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber Tour to Australasia last week, which was set to feature “all members” of the group.
Wu performed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 25th, but Method Man, Raekwon, Cappadonna, and Ol Dirty Bastard’s son, Young Dirty Bastard, were absent.
The four rappers also didn’t appear at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on March 27th, as well as the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on March 28th.
Earlier in the week, the group announced that Method Man wouldn’t be joining them in Australia, but didn’t mention anything about Raekwon, Cappadonna and Young Dirty Bastard.
After the Brisbane show, ticket company Ticketek sent an email to fans about the previously unannounced changes.
According to Billboard, fans who no longer wished to attend the Melbourne and Sydney shows were offered a refund.
“We want to make fans aware that due to unforeseen circumstances, a couple of members will be unable to join the remaining tour dates in Melbourne and Sydney,” a statement read. “Wu-Tang Clan will be performing and bringing everything that has made them one of the most iconic live acts in hip-hop history.”
Speaking in February, RZA told Rolling Stone, “We need to commit to travel around this globe one more time and say peace to our fans collectively.”
Wu-Tang are set to perform in Yokohama, Japan, on May 24th at the K-Arena Yokohama, concluding the first leg of their farewell tour. The second leg will begin in August, with the group heading to cities across North America. They’ll be joined by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
