Wiki announces first solo album in seven years

Wiki has announced his first solo album in seven years.

The New York City rapper will release his new album, Ancient History, on June 12th via his own label, Wikset Enterprise.

Ancient History is set to include 14 tracks, with features from Your Old Droog, duendita, and Salimata.

Producers on the project include The Alchemist, Navy Blue, Nick Hakim, Mount Kimbie’s Dom Maker, and others.

To coincide with the news, Wiki has shared the first single titled ‘Park’, which is produced by Zoomo and inspired by NYC parks.

In the song, he raps, “Caught in a sea of concrete, what these streets are/ I need to see some trees even if these trees sparse.”

The 32-year-old released his last solo album, Oofie, in 2019. However, he’s been far from absent in the years since, releasing collaborative projects with Nah, Subjxct 5, Navy Blue, MIKE and The Alchemist, and Tony Seltzer.

During an interview with i-D in 2024, Wiki explained how he got into hip-hop after previously doubting himself.

“I always wanted to rap,” he said. “I felt like I couldn’t. I thought, ‘Who am I? I’m just some kid from the Upper West Side.’ But then in high school, being out and meeting all different types of people at those parties, where everyone in the city our age was there in some warehouse.”

He continued, “Everyone would be dancing and we would be in the cut just freestyling. It was mad funny. Mad dudes just freestyling in the corner! But I would always be the loudest. I was small as fuck, but I would just be loud.”
