Who is Cassie Ventura? The woman who first exposed Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been shrouded in controversy for nearly a year. With allegations of sexual assault, abuse and more, the Bad Boy founder has become a pariah in hip-hop. However, this may not have happened if it hadn’t been for the woman who had filed the first lawsuit against him. Cassie Ventura.
That said, some people still don’t know much about the lady who started this explosive chain reaction. Since she settled with the producer, she hasn’t been seen or heard, so many are looking for more details about her.
Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Elizabeth ‘Cassie’ Ventura, was a singer and actress who worked with Diddy in the mid-2000s. She caught the attention of the music mogul after she released her hit song ‘Me & U’ which managed to reach number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
As one of Bad Boy’s integral A&Rs, Diddy offered the vocalist a record—a dream come true for a 20-year-old aspiring singer. However, Ventura didn’t know that the contract she understandably signed came with hidden strings attached.
Although Diddy was nearly 40 years old at the time, Cassie saw him as a mentor and a friend who had helped her get to number four on the Billboard 200 with her debut self-titled album.
However, as the two continued to work together, music took a back seat, and the singer became the young woman Diddy always had on his arm. She released music erratically, such as the 2009 track ‘Must Be Love’, but she had become Diddy’s girlfriend and was happy to be so until the alleged abuse began.
At the time, they had committed to a ten-album deal and didn’t really have a musical home still; what began as a working relationship descended into an inescapable one of control and abuse.
The relationship, which seemed nice to the public in the 2010s, garnered more widespread attention than her music, and before long, Diddy had given up on her musically too. That said, the alleged physical and sexual abuse continued behind closed doors, and only in October 2018 did the pair part ways.
Since leaving Bad Boy, she has become a successful model, modelling for the likes of Delia’s, Adidas, Abercrombie & Fitch, Seventeen, and Clean and Clear. She also got married in 2019 to Alex Fine, a personal trainer, to some of the most well-known names in Hollywood.
Cassie didn’t stay dormant while she was with Diddy and released music every now and then, such as ‘King of Hearts’ in 2012, and took on jobs as a video vixen. Still, it wasn’t the 10-album success story that Combs had promised her in 2006.
As such, last November, the singer took legal action against Combs, and after an explosive video of the mogul physically abusing her in the corridor of a Las Vegas hotel emerged, he was forced to settle the court case with a cash payout. The amount remains undisclosed.
