Watch Ice Spice perform 'In Ha Mood' on 'Saturday Night Live'

Bronx-born female rapper Ice Spice recently made her debut on Saturday Night Live (SNL) to perform two of her most well-known songs, ‘In Ha Modd’ and her latest release, ‘Pretty Girl’ featuring Rema. The emcee performed as the writer’s strike began.

The lyricist (real name Isis Gaston) was invited on to the show as the musical guest for the talk show’s season 49 premiere. Gaston performed alongside the Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Rema and was introduced onstage by Taylor Swift.

Swift’s alleged boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs NFL player Travis Kelce, appeared on the show to act in a sketch about their relationship, which is dominating current NFL coverage.

The first episode of SNL season 49 was hosted by Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson, who performed a remix of the track ‘I’m Just Ken’, which appeared on the soundtrack of the Barbie film.

The latest episode of SNL is the first live taping since May earlier this year when the Writer’s Guild of America went on strike. The group were entering negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and finally reached an agreement on September 25th.

The strike officially ended, and writers (including late-night staff) returned to work on September 27th. Ice Spice has had an incredible two years since her viral debut track ‘Munch (Feelin’ U)’ hit streaming platforms in August of last year. Since then, she has featured on tracks with Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and PinkPantheress.

Earlier this year, Ice Spice released a deluxe edition of her debut EP Like…?, a signature drink with Dunkin’ Donuts. Later this year, she will join Doja Cat on some dates of her Scarlet North American tour.
