Wack 100 and DJ Hed defend Kendrick Lamar against haters

Wack 100 and DJ Hed have come to Kendrick Lamar‘s defence due to people voicing their hate following his new album. K.Dot released his surprise GNX project on November 22nd to the excitements of fans, but not everyone has taken kindly to the new music.

During a recent episode of The 100 Show, DJ Hed and The Game, Blueface and 6ix9ine’s manager, Wack 100, shut down claims that Kendrick Lamar’s streaming numbers are inflated by bots. When one person said he got caught buying 30million streams for ‘Not Like Us’, Wack replied, ‘Who did? No, he didn’t. That’s Akademiks talking, bro.” Hed added, “How do you know that? How did you verify that information?'”

Another person claimed that Kendrick Lamar couldn’t make a hit single, to which he was met with confusion with ‘Not Like Us’ being “one of the biggest songs in a minute.” DJ Hed replied, “What do you consider a hit song? Hold on one second, a hit record is defined as ‘a record that becomes very popular and sells many copies or is well-known and widely played.'”

Both Wack 100 backed up their support with receipts, stating Kendrick Lamar’s Spotify numbers, charting success and award show wins. “That’s what makes me give him his credit is because he’s a big artist but he’s not a commercialised artist,” Wack said. “He’s just something that has an authentic following.”

Earlier this year, Wack 100 claimed that Drake was attempting to “restrict” Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, serving a cease and desist in order to stop him from performing his diss track ‘Not Like Us’. However, he later went back on his comments.

“Wack didn’t say shit. Wack read a fucking clip. I read a fucking clip!” he said. “I wouldn’t know if fucking Drake sent a cease and desist. Why? Because I don’t represent Kendrick in business or Drake in business, so I wouldn’t know if a cease and desist happened.”

He added, “All I said was ‘Shit, the clip was saying Drake sent a cease and desist ’cause it was defamation or whatever’ … So once I read the clip, it turns into, ‘Wack 100 said.’”

GNX was released via pgLang and Interscope Records, featuring 12 tracks with guest appearances from SZA, Roddy Ricch, Hitta J3 and others. Production was handled by Sounwave, Jack Antonoff, Mustard and more.
