Vince Staples announces new album ‘Cry Baby’
Vince Staples has officially announced his new album.
The Los Angeles rapper has revealed that his new project is titled Cry Baby and will be released on June 5th.
Cry Baby comprises 10 new songs, including the first single, ‘Blackberry Marmalade‘, which was released on April 25th with a music video directed by Staples and Bradley J Calder.
In a statement about the album, Staples said, “As the world burns, I have decided to release this album.”
The album cover is bright pink and seemingly includes a caricature of President Donald Trump as a crying baby. The American flag is wrapped around his waist, while a few strands of blonde hair are displayed on his head.
Taking to Instagram, Staples told his 1.1 million followers, “Introducing Cry Baby, an album by Vince Staples, releasing 6/5. Vinyl & CD available for pre-order now on vincestaples.co & my first single, Blackberry Marmalade, is now live on all streaming platforms along with pre-save for the album. Enjoy.”
In the comments, the rapper prompted fans to post baby bottle emojis, coinciding with the theme of the album.
Cry Baby will serve as Staples’ first album since 2024’s Dark Times, which debuted at number 69 on the Billboard 200 chart.
It will be his first album since leaving Def Jam Recordings, with the rapper now signing to Loma Vista Recordings, distributed by Universal Music Group, as part of his own label, Section Eight Arthouse.
A press release states that the album is built around live instrumentation in his new era as an independent artist.
