Tyler, The Creator reveals his dream acting role: “I want to play a villain like that”

Tyler, The Creator is already eyeing up future acting roles before his debut performance has even hit big screens.

The Odd Future rapper stars in the upcoming Marty Supreme movie alongside Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many others.

Before the film lands on Christmas Day, Tyler appeared on The Ebro Show alongside the film’s director, Josh Safdie.

When asked if he’ll be acting more, Tyler revealed his dream role to provide a sense of the type of characters he’s interested in playing.

“I want to act so much more,” he said. “I’ve always kind of wanted to, but I’ve never gotten the things. You know Jim Carrey in [Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events]? I want to play a villain like that. Super whimsical but like, ‘I’m still gonna murder you.’ I love that. I want to do that so bad.”

He added, “And then like, man, if they did a Paid in Full today, I would definitely do one of those or something.”

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events was released in 2004, with Carrey starring in the main role as Count Olaf.

Earlier this year, Tyler explained how thankful he was for Safdie giving him the opportunity to star in his first movie.

“Thank you to you, Josh. Please make the biggest noise for this man,” he said. “I’m so grateful, beyond grateful. I play piano and put on cool clothes. I do not act at all. This man is so good that I trusted him and said, ‘Anything you need. I don’t want to read this script. I will show up and be there.’”

He continued, “Because I trust this man and the way he curated and handled every detail. And the team, working with y’all, it was so wonderful. I got emotional up there because you gave me a chance, so I thank you, I love you, and thank you. Please give it up.”
