Tyler, The Creator rejects rumours of new album

Tyler, The Creator has been one of the most consistent and creative artists in modern hip-hop. While the work he has released recently may sound completely different from albums like Bastard and Goblin, which he released at the end of the 2000s, his trajectory and growth as an artist is undeniable.

Subsequently, there are a lot of fans who eagerly await any new release. Ahead of Tyler, The Creator’s next album, many are excited to see where it will take him in terms of tone and theme, a number of rumours have begun to circulate saying that the rapper will be dropping new material soon. Now, following a recent rant on social media, it’s clear that Tyler isn’t releasing new music.

Tyler has taken a moment to vent his anger about fans persistently asking for a new album despite his constant creative output in recent years. He jumped on a similar vent that collaborator and Off Future affiliate Steve Lacy was having with a fan.

Lacy was being harassed on social media by new fans about when he would be bringing out a new album, and he decided to let his thoughts be known. “Album this album that,” he said, “What happened to hello?” Tyler agreed with his fellow musician’s comments, saying, “I feel you […] Shit is annoying especially when I never said out my mouth an album was coming.”

Tyler’s comment is correct. Despite rumours of new music circulating, he has never confirmed nor denied that he is releasing any new music. His most recent work remains the deluxe version of Call Me If You Get Lost, The Estate Sale, which came out in 2023.

It seems that Tyler is currently pursuing new creative ventures. He has consistently asserted that he wants to work in Hollywood, telling his fans at one point, “I wanna be an actress lmfao.” True to his word, Tyler has managed to book himself a supporting role in the upcoming A24 picture Marty Supreme. The film will feature a stellar cast, including Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow.

While Tyler may get frustrated at fans persistently asking for new music, there is no escaping the fact that his creative output has lessened in recent decades. His last feature took place on Maxo Kream’s single ‘Cracc Era’, but prior to that, Tyler’s latest guest verse was in 2022 when he stepped in on The Weeknd’s ‘Here We Go Again’.

It’s exciting to see where his creative career might go, but with the focus currently locked on Hollywood, to fans’ disappointment, his next project might not be in music.
