Tyler, The Creator criticises Elon Musk at concert in Austin

Tyler, The Creator is an outlandish figure. From the day he first emerged in the culture, Tyler has been an individual who is happy to say and do anything he wants regardless of the repercussions. As such, it is no surprise that he crudely blasted Elon Musk during a performance at the ACL Fest.

During the Goblin creator’s set he decided to switch some lyrics around so he could fit the name Elon in the song and make sure people knew the angry message he was conveying. During his performance, Tyler performed his classic 2017 song ‘911/Mr. Lonely.’ The original track speaks about Musk in a positive way. However, since he decided to venture into right-wing politics, Musk has fallen out of favour with a lot of people including Tyler.

The Tesla owner has become one of the most mocked celebrities in the public eye, and his decision to affiliate himself with likes of Flordia governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump has made him persona non grata with many Black Americans.

In Tyler, The Creator’s original 2017 lyrics, he shouted out Musk, rapping, “Can’t see straight, these shades are Céline Dion / Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon… Musk, yeah, I got a sold-out show. Crowd wild out but don’t matter ’cause you not front row.”

It was hardly aggressive and most definitely didn’t draw upon any real hatred for Musk. However, during his ACL Fest set, the IGOR rhymer changed the verse and, instead of saying “Shout out to Elon,” rapped “Man f*ck Elon!”

The rapper originally included the Tesla founder in his verse because it fit the rhyme scheme and the bar’s theme about not requiring gas. In 2016, the lyricist loved Elon Musk so much that he tweeted, “Elon Musk I LOVE YOU THANK YOU FOR CHANGING THE WORLD,” he wrote, “AND MAKING THE EVIL OIL MEN WHO RUN THE WORLD HATE YOU.”

Musk hasn’t just become the owner of X (formerly Twitter) but, on October 5th, decided to join Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania and even joined the polarising businessman on-stage to give a speech.

The former Odd Future frontman also praised Musk during a 2015 appearance on Hot 97.0 where he compared the Tesla founder to rap moguls like JAY-Z, Master P and Diddy. However, his endorsement of Donald Trump and, and a slew of other factors have caused a lot of people to fall out of love with Musk, and Tyler is at the top of the list.
