How Donald Trump ruined Cardi B’s Super Bowl experience
Cardi B, before showing up during Bad Bunny’s halftime show this year, was in the stadium for last year’s Super Bowl. But she didn’t remotely have a good time—and she explicitly blamed one man in particular for it.
Also present at that game was Donald Trump, who only recently had returned to the presidency for his second stint. His presence at the Super Bowl in 2025 was historic, in that it marked the first time a sitting president had ever attended in person—but Cardi was not happy about it.
On Instagram Live after the game had finished, Cardi vented her frustrations with the experience—and the main subject of her ire was primarily Trump. She blamed him for her annoyance.
“I was so fucking mad today,” she said. “[Trump] was at the Super Bowl today and they were giving us a hard time. Oh my gosh! The Secret Service was not playing at that muthafucka. The Secret Service was not playing to get in that motherfucking stadium. Oh my God.”
Cardi had been angered after her $3,000 stilettos had apparently been damaged—which she attributed to Trump. His presence at the game, as she saw it, ensured that security handled attendees more roughly than normal.
“Now I like him lesser,” she said, “because you ain’t have to go to no damn Super Bowl, fucking up my shoe.”
Cardi’s damaged shoe is hardly her most pressing issue with Trump, though. She also brought up his administration’s drive to deport migrants, claiming that one of her own relatives had been affected by it.
“Bring my uncle back,” she said, “because my uncle got deported.” Cardi comes from a migrant family, but the specific details of her uncle’s case were not made clear in her video.
Cardi has been outspoken in her opposition to Trump, having explicitly endorsed Kamala Harris during the last presidential election. Her issues with the president are deep-seated, but it seems that her damaged shoes were the straw that broke the camel’s back last year.
