Tributes pour in for Migos rapper, Takeoff

Yesterday brought the tragic news that Takeoff of the rap collective Migos had been fatally shot. He had been at a bowling and pool hall in Houston, Texas when the attack occurred. He was only 28 years old.

Since then, many of his fellow artists have paid tribute to Takeoff and urged for more to be done regarding the recent epidemic of fatal attacks within the hip hop community. An inquest is currently underway.

Ja Rule was one of the first to respond, writing: “This shit has to STOP… sending love to friends and family.” While Kelly Rowland simply added: “There are no words.”

Keke Palmer also took to Instagram and commented: “This is horrible. From the tragedy of the death to the tragedy of there being a video of it online. It’s all just tragic and I am so sorry to his whole family and all he touched. Really terrible.”

Juice Wayne also provided a poem in honour of the star, it read: “Offset lost a brother he’ll never get to fix things with. For nothing. Quavo lost his nephew. For nothing. Rap lost a good one. For nothing. All this bloodshed. For nothing. It’ll never make sense. Never ever. Rest in Peace. Prayers to the family of the fallen.”

And SZA also put her concerns to print, commenting: “This Takeoff shit so weird… I’m genuinely creeped out by the world. I cried. God bless that man’s spirit his family and friends. SUCH A TALENTED SOUL .. ion understand.”
