Traxamillion, legendary Bay Area producer, has died

Beloved Bay Area producer, Traxamillion, has died aged 42 after a long battle with cancer.

Trax, real name Sultan Banks, had been fighting a rare form of cancer since 2007 but chose to keep his struggles private. He passed away at a hospice inside his aunt’s residence in Santa Claro, California, and his death has since been confirmed to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Banks worked with the likes of E-40, Keak Da Sneak and The Pack through his expansive career, and tributes have poured in from around the hip-hop world in the wake of the devastating news.

His manager Prashant ‘PK’ Kumar, confirmed his death and said, “He was an amazing musician/producer. He was an integral part of the hyphy music sound who helped reopen the door for Bay Area hip-hop. He did it in 2004 or 2005, and the rest of California got on it and adapted his sound.”

Additionally, Laurel Anderson, a Santa Clara County Police spokesperson, commented, “The death appears as natural and is pending jurisdiction.”

“This is a huge loss for Northern California,” Bay Area-based website The Thizzler eulogised. “We send our condolences to his family & loved ones.”

Producer Metro Boomin also paid tribute and wrote, “RIP TRAXAMILLION the legends are always the ones who bring something to the game that shifts it.”
