Travis Scott is back promoting his forthcoming ‘Utopia’ project

Less than two months from the devastating Astroworld tragedy, Travis Scott is already back promoting his upcoming album, Utopia.

A crowd crush at the festival, which he organised and headlined, left ten fans dead in November. Scott has been heavily scrutinised for how he dealt with the incident and for not closing down the concert earlier, something which could have potentially prevented lives from being lost.

Scott recently broke his silence on the incident and admitted that he must assume responsibility. He told Charlamagne Tha God, “Fans come to the show to have a good experience and I have a responsibility to figure out what happened here. I have a responsibility to figure out a solution.

“And hopefully this takes a first step into us as artists, for us as artists having an insight into what is going on and the professionals to surround and figure out more intel, whether it’s tech, whether it’s more of a response, whatever the problem is and in the future move forward with concert safety and make sure it never happens again.”

Now, Scott seemingly thinks the dust has settled enough to once more begin promoting his upcoming album, Utopia. The rapper was initially supposed to release the project earlier this year. However, recent events would halt his plans, but he’s now reinstated the title to his bio on Instagram once more.

Scott discussed the project in September and said, “Medicine, nursing, being a better person, talking, language, communication”. He added, “You think utopia is a society where everything is good: health, buildings, architecture – nah. It’s just about proper lines of communication,” he said.

In the run-up to Astroworld, the rapper shared the tracks ‘Escape Plan’ and ‘Mafia’ from the album. A release date remains unknown for Utopia, but expect it to drop sometime in 2022.
