Travis Scott, Drake, and Live Nation face new $2 billion lawsuit

A new lawsuit has been filed against Travis Scott, Drake and Live Nation for $2 billion in light of the Astroworld tragedy.

Texas-based attorney Thomas J. Henry has put forward the case against a giant list of defendants, including Apple Music and NRG Stadium. The case is on behalf of the 282 people who hired Henry for legal representation.

In a statement, he said, “The defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off of this event, and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs, and put attendees at risk.

“My clients want to ensure the defendants are held responsible for their actions, and they want to send the message to all performers, event organisers, and promoters that what happened at Astroworld cannot happen again.”

However, in the wake of Henry filing the suit, he has said over 120 more individuals have asked him for representation. Speaking to Hollywood Life, he noted the damage done by Astroworld to the attendees.

“Those who were injured are still very traumatised because they had to step over dead bodies,” he said. “They didn’t have a choice because there was nowhere to move. These people were trapped… They couldn’t breathe. They couldn’t get out.”

Additionally, Rolling Stone claim the suit says Apple Music “played a critical role in the crowd-control disaster”. The platform bought the rights for Astroworld and live-streamed the concert.

The suit allegedly reads, “Early reports from the investigation of the Astroworld catastrophe indicate that the premises were arranged in a fashion that best served Apple’s online streaming of the concert at the detriment to concertgoer safety.”
