Tory Lanez announces surprise double album from California prison
Tory Lanez has announced a new album from behind bars.
The Canadian rapper is currently serving a 10-year sentence at California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, but that isn’t stopping him from releasing new music.
Lanez took to social media this week to reveal that he will be dropping a surprise double album on July 17th.
The project, titled Made You Think I Was Gone… But, comprises 22 tracks, with the first disc consisting of rap songs and the second disc made up of R&B songs.
“MADE YOU THINK I WAS GONE…BUT 7.17,” he wrote on Instagram. “DISC 1: RAP. DISC 2: R&B.”
Song titles across the project include ‘Revenge of Fargo’, ‘Heartbreak from Cell 210’, ‘Scarborough to Dubai’, and ‘First Day Out’.
Lanez released his last album, LOL: Slutty Bass, in April. Other projects released during his prison sentence include Peterson and Prison Tapes.
The 33-year-old was accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. He was found guilty of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence in 2022.
The rapper has denied the allegations, claiming, “I’ve never been violent towards a woman. I would never hit a woman, let alone shoot a woman … I believe not only that I was wrongfully convicted, but the amount of new evidence that has emerged since that trial, I think, has been overwhelming.”
He continued, “When I talk about my case, I don’t want it to be taken as me coming at her, because it’s not that. I’m just asking for somebody in the system to look at my case and look at the evidence and ask if this was fair.”
