Tory Lanez’s lawyer blasts Megan Thee Stallion’s “ridiculous” harassment claims
Tory Lanez’s attorney has issued a statement regarding Megan Thee Stallion’s claims of harassment, calling her comments “ridiculous.” Ceasar McDowell, who serves as the CEO of Unite the People, Inc, shared a letter on December 18th that responded to each of the claims Megan made while filing a restraining order against Lanez.
In Los Angeles Superior Court this week, Megan asked the judge to stop Lanez from using third parties to contact, harass and intimidate her, claiming he hired bloggers to spread defamatory comments.
She alleged that prison call logs showed a “conspiratorial relationship” between Lanez and a woman named Elizabeth Milagro Cooper. The filing also alleged that Lanez’s father asked about payments to Cooper for harassing Megan during a phone call. Megan’s legal team reportedly obtained financial records of $3,000 in payments.
Focusing on “logic and common sense,” McDowell said it was “ludicrous” to claim that Lanez was attempting to undermine her work. “Appellate courts impose strict timelines for when filings and responses must occur,” he wrote. “Are the accusers now suggesting that the courts are trying to disrupt [Megan’s] documentary? Our client, [Lanez], was simply complying with those legal deadlines, as required by the courts.”
As for the $3,000 transaction, he asked people not to “jump to conclusions,” claiming Lanez had nothing to with it and that the legal process would “100 per cent” prove that. “We trust that the facts will come to light in court,” he said. “We believe that the funds sent by [Lanez’s father] will be fully accounted for, and not connected to our client. This issue will be resolved by the lawyers and the courts, where the truth will be revealed.”
McDowell then brought up Megan admitting that she lied about her sexual relationship with Lanez during an interview. “On a broader note, I believe it is important to consider the pattern of behaviour we are seeing,” he wrote.
“When someone has openly admitted to lying on major public platforms – such as Gayle King’s show and others to the people, at what point do we, as a society, stop believing the narrative they are pushing? And ask ourselves [if] ‘enough is enough.'” He added, “We trust that the truth will be fully examined and proven through the legal process, and we remain 100 percent confident in our case.”
Lanez was convicted in December 2022 of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, after being found guilty of shooting Megan. He was sentenced to ten years in prison in August 2023.
