Top 5: Doja Cat's five best songs

Doja Cat is a pop icon, hip hop star and stylized artist with so many accomplishments to show for her 26 years. She’s been making music in some capacity for close to a decade now, and with cutesy hits like ‘MOOO!’ and ‘Say So’ carrying her straight to the top, it can be easy to miss some of her deeper cuts.

From going viral on TikTok to collaborating with everybody from Courtney Love to SZA, Doja clearly has plenty of tricks up her sleeve and she’s not afraid to show her mettle on the mic.

As an artist who isn’t opposed to changing up her sound, her songs truly fall all over the map, making her even more intriguing as an artist.

Although Doja Cat has come a long way from mixing beats and posting on Soundcloud in her teen years, it seems that the creative spirit she fosters is never too far gone. Her personality, stage presence, and style all contribute to her identity as an artist, but her music comes first, and that’s extremely refreshing.

If you’re looking to get into some of Doja Cat’s best songs, here are a few that can get you started—and don’t worry. They won’t be top-40 radio repeats.

Doja Cat’s five best songs:

5. ‘Freak’

This single features a cheeky 1950s flair, which floats perfectly when juxtaposed with the modern beat and flirtatious lyrics. Starting off with the lyrics “Tied him down to my queen bed/ Tease him just enough to hate me,” she leaves no room for guessing.

Her rap verses in this song are also fire, which speaks even more to her credit, as plenty of rappers who sing as she does, might forego the idea entirely on a track like this.

4. ‘Bottom Bitch’

Off her album Hot Pink, this song truly never got the attention it deserves. Some of the other singles on this album were certainly a little more attention-grabbing at the time, so revisiting this one is only fair.

With the minor tones and the low-key flow, this makes for great background party music—think somewhere in the flavour of skate videos, rooftop parties, and beach road trips.

3. ‘Tia Tamera’ (feat. Rico Nasty)

The way Doja Cat and Rico Nasty mesh together on this song is perfection. What do you get when you put these two together? A sexy, creative, danceable song with lyrics like “Bent the whole world over and said, Spank you very much.” But if I quoted every fire lyric, I’d just write the whole song out.

It’s a shame this one didn’t blow up the same way Ashnikko and Princess Nokia’s ‘Slumber Party’ did, because they have similar energy. But, here, in our opinion, Doja delivers even more impressive bars.

2. ‘Cyber Sex’

‘Cyber Sex’ is still one of Doja Cat’s very best. The cute instrumentation and digital beat contrast with her flawless verses to make for a unique and unforgettable song.

There are so many creative and quotable lines from this song like, “No shot to the screen, put your hands up/ Make it pop in your face like a Samsung,” and many more, it’s a mystery why this one didn’t “Break the internet.”

1. ‘Go to Town’

Huh, I guess this one is an underappreciated song now. Although this is one of her most recognisable, a lot of people don’t know it as Doja Cat. One of her earliest tracks, it’s a fun, light party tune perfect for the summer.

With the heavy beat and backing vocals, this song worked to solidify her sound as we know it today. Featuring both singing and rapping, this overall balance makes for one of her best to date.
