Tony Yayo labels Ja Rule an industry plant: “A buster to me”
There has never been any love lost between G-Unit and Ja Rule. The latter had a long-running feud with the former’s leader, 50 Cent, but it would appear the entire group had a distaste for Ja. In a recent interview, Tony Yayo proved that beef will likely never rest.
The conversation arose as Yayo was asked about the greatest rapper of all time. Recently, Dr Dre was asked about his top pick for the best MC ever and selected Eminem. It was a choice met with widespread derision.
However, Yayo couldn’t help but agree with Dre. As well as admitting that Eminem was in his top five of all time, he uttered the phrase “men lie, numbers don’t” when talking about the rapper who is still breaking records 25 years after his initial release.
As the chat with Vlad continued, Yayo created his Mount Rushmore of Queens rappers. Yayo and Vlad wouldn’t agree on the list, but as Yayo picked out The Lost Boys, Vlad suggested that Ja Rule should be ahead of the group, claiming that, for a period, he was among the best in the business.
“He was like the industry plant early, Ja Rule […],” said Yayo. “Ja Rule was a buster to me. I don’t know him. He’s from the other side of town. He’s a buster to me, and he’s still a buster. Irv [Gotti]’s a buster, Irv’s brother’s a buster, and they’re all busters to me.”
While Yayo was happy to count Eminem’s numbers as a mark of his greatness, he refused to offer Ja Rule the same terms and cotniunually called him a “buster” while Vlad protested.
Of course, Yayo’s response is not surprising given the cotninued issues he and his group have had with Ja Rule. However, it is impressive to see how “me lie, numbers don’t” can so quickly rise and fall as a notion.
