Tom Hardy shares details of awkward encounter with Eminem
Few know that British actor Tom Hardy is a secret Eminem fan, and fewer know that, on one occasion, he got the chance to meet him at a concert. The esteemed actor recently opened up about this during an appearance on the Whoo’s House podcast with DJ Whoo Kid.
Opening up about the experience, Hardy detailed how awkward it was. The Venom star revealed it was in 2018 and that he felt a bit bad about it, unveiling, “I went to his concert, and I felt sorry for him because, like, I got ushered to his dressing room backstage to say hello, and he had to take a photo with me, and I felt like a real dick.”
Hardy admitted that he was so excited to meet him but felt like an inconvenience, adding, “He’s nice, but he had to go on stage. So it’s like he’s prepping to do his job, and then some idiot like me comes in and was like, ‘Hey!’ He just deadpanned me. [laughs] I was like, ‘Okay. Now is not the time!'”
Eminem recorded a song for the soundtrack of the Tom Hardy film Venom, and during an appearance on Yahoo Entertainment, Hardy reflected on how he was overjoyed to be part of a project that included music for the Detroit lyricist, explaining, “I’m a huge Eminem fan—I’m not gonna lie! I love hip-hop and rap music, and I’m just really grateful that I get to meet and work alongside people who are super-talented and legends. [Eminem] stands out specifically as an enigma. A unique artist and to have that talent in anything whether you’re a singer, actor, rapper or whatever, he’s just the highest level.”
The 8 Mile star is revered by hip-hop and fans of the culture. However, one artist who recently made it his mission to disrespect Eminem was Lil Pump. The Miami mumble rapper has been attacking the ‘My Name Is’ rhymer for his politics, and, before the election, he took to social media, screaming, “F*ck you and f*ck Hailie.”
Shouting at the highest-selling rap artist of all time, he continued, “You’re a f*cking piece of sh*t for going on stage and speaking at Kamala Harris sh*t! You’re a f*cking piece of sh*t for taking a picture with Obama.”
However, even after the election results and a Donald Trump win he continued to hate Eminem and labelled him as a “f*cking loser.” Eminem still hasn’t responded, but for the most part, people like Tom Hardy and many others love him.
