Tim Westwood interviewed by Met police over sexual assault allegations

Following five separate sexual offence allegations, Tim Westwood has been interviewed under caution by police. The former BBC Radio 1 DJ, currently aged 65, has been interviewed by the Metropolitan Police for a second time about offences he’s alleged to have committed in London between 1982 and 2016.

In a recent statement reported on by The Guardian, a spokesperson for the Met said: “Police are investigating five reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offences allegedly committed by a man. The offences are alleged to have occurred in London between 1982 and 2016. A 65-year-old man was interviewed under caution on 15 March 2023 and 4 April 2023. There has been no arrest.”

Westwood, who was not named in the statement, was a prominent Radio 1 DJ between 1994 and 2013. It’s believed the allegations span the period he was employed at Capital Xtra and the BBC. The allegations emerged last year when multiple women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct. Westwood denied all allegations.

The DJ subsequently stepped down from his Capital Xtra radio show. The BBC has since revealed that it received six allegations of sexual misconduct against Westwood, only one of which was forwarded to the police.
