T.I. defends DaBaby for his homophobic Rolling Loud rant

Atlanta rapper T.I. has come to the defence of DaBaby after the latter went on a rant during his appearance at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami on Sunday.

On Instagram Live, T.I. explained: “If you gonna have the Lil Nas X video and him living his truth, you gonna damn sure have people like DaBaby who gonna speak their truth,” he said. “Ain’t nothing wrong with none of it, it ain’t got to be no hate — it’s all honesty. Everybody living in their truth.” Lil Nas X has caused a major stir with his videos over the past few months, including his number one hit ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’.

During his set at Rolling Loud, DaBaby said the following, seemingly unprompted: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up. Ladies, if your p—y smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d— in the parking lot, put your cell phone lighter up. Let’s keep it real.”

DaBaby himself later clarified on Instagram: “I wasn’t going on no rant — that’s called a call-to-action. That’s what that’s called because I’m a live performer … Look. All the lights went up — gay or straight. You wanna know why? ‘Cause even my gay fans don’t have fuckin’ AIDS.”

What he is implying there makes sense on to DaBaby, and T.I., apparently. The rant, and the explanation, have put DaBaby in hot water, as did his appearance with rapper Tory Lanez that same performance. Lanez plead guilty to assaulting Megan Thee Stallion, who performed at Rolling Loud earlier that night, with a firearm in November of 2020. No word on what T.I. makes of that incident just yet.
