The unfortunate and tragic event that once made Snoop Dogg faint

Rapper and former gang member Snoop Dogg is known for his affiliation with the Rollin’ 20s crips, and many are aware of the dangerous environment he grew up in as a youngster in Long Beach. However, there was one unfortunate and tragic event that made the Doggystyle creator faint.

The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ lyricist had been in several life-threatening situations before he became a West Coast rap star. However, in 1996, something he saw disturbed and upset him so much it left him unconscious.

1996 was a big year for West Coast hip-hop. With 2Pac’s release from prison and the release of his project All Eyez On Me, he was riding high on the wave of success. However, when the Death Row star was murdered in Las Vegas after a drive-by shooting, the music world was stunned and saddened.

As one of 2Pac’s closest friends, Snoop was highly concerned after news spread that the 2Pacalypse Now creator had been hospitalised after being shot multiple times. That said, during an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Snoop explained how he was at Warren G’s house watching a boxing match when he found out that his friend was fighting for his life.

Upon getting the news, Snoop Dogg drove with Warren G into Vegas to check on his friend. Recalling the event, Snoop told Paul, “When we drive to Vegas to see Pac, we got to Suge house first, so we haven’t even seen Pac. We just talking to Suge, and he got the head wrapped up, and he telling us what happened and [saying] ‘Pac gonna be alright, he going to pull through he got shot nine times before he going to be alright.’”

However, when Tha Doggfather rhymer arrived at the hospital, he was shocked by how dire the situation was. Telling Paul how he felt when he entered the ward, Snoop added, “We feeling like it’s gonna be alright until we go to the hospital and see that it ain’t alright. He got tubes in him,” he recalled. “When I walked in, I could just feel like he wasn’t even there, and I fainted.”

While Snoop wasn’t physically able to see his friend in that position, it was 2Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, who told him to pull himself together so that he could be there as he was dying. Shakur told Snoop, “She was like, ‘My baby ain’t never seen you weak. I don’t want you to be weak in front of him. You go in the bathroom and fix yourself up, and you go back in there, and you talk to him, and you tell him how you feel.’”

Prior to 2Pac’s death, Snoop Dogg and the Against All Odds creator weren’t on good terms as the latter had declared on the radio that he liked Biggie Smalls — 2Pac’s mortal enemy. However, Snoop was still there to see him out.
