Death Row owner and legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has been an icon within hip-hop for over three decades. Since his appearance as Dr Dre’s protégé on his 1992 debut album, The Chronic, the lyricist (real name Calvin Broadus) has become a global figure. As a worldwide artist Snoop has travelled, toured and done shows across the globe. However, when Snoop landed in Europe, he was unsure and slightly annoyed concerning the continent’s marijuana etiquette.
In a 2018 appearance on the Howard Stern Show alongside Seth Rogan, Snoop spoke on the bizarre weed-smoking habits he saw while in Europe. Broadus’ issue pertained to tobacco as he questioned why Europeans put “cigarettes in their f***ing weed?”
In a discussion about lacing joints with tobacco, the trio expressed some of their other pet peeves regarding how people use marijuana. Asking Broadus if he had ever had an altercation abroad, Stern posited the question, “Do you find yourself getting into arguments with a lot of Europeans about putting tobacco in their joints?” To which the Doggystyle rapper swiftly replied, “Yes. I hate that sh*t!”
In agreement with the emcee, Rogan angrily professed, “I do too!” Having never heard of the practice, Stern asked the two to elaborate on exactly what they were angry about. Detailing the exercise, Snoop explained to the host, “They put f*cking cigarettes in their f*cking weed! When you hit [the joint] it’s like a hell of a head rush. If you’re not careful, that sh*t will blow your fcking head off.” Completely astounded by what he was hearing, Howard Stern asked “Why would [the Europeans] ruin the weed?”
Seth Rogan and Snoop proceeded to explain how they were told it fills out the joint and makes it last longer. However, despite his notorious smoking of weed, Snoop professed that he would never smoke tobacco as he vehemently proclaimed, “it’s f*cking you up. Your whole chest [will] blow up!” As the discussion continued, the ‘Gin And Juice’ act admitted that as a man with grandchildren, he is looking to cut down on his weed smoking. Speaking in frank terms about death Snoop emotionally detailed how he wants to see his grandkids get old. When asked how he plans to stop the Long Beach icon detailed, “The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what I am intaking?” You can hear the two talking about weed smoking in the video below.
