The naughty reason Snoop Dogg knew Cameron Diaz in the 1980s

It’s incredibly uncommon for celebrities to have interactions with each other that date back to their youth. However, Snoop Dogg and Cameron Diaz had a naughty arrangement with one another before they became famous, dating back to the late 1980s. Snoop is renowned for having some odd friendships in Hollywood today, such as his chummy companionship with chef Martha Stewart. Still, his association with Cameron Diaz was less of a friendship and more of a money-making scheme.

Snoop Dogg is a proud Long Beach native, and growing up, he happily worked different jobs to help his mother and siblings make ends meet. He has revealed on several occasions that he frequently sold candy, delivered newspapers, and bagged groceries at a local store. Whilst attending middle school, Snoop eventually started rapping, and droves of students would come to watch him spit his lyrics in the playground at lunch and along the hallways in between classes.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times in 1993 shortly after the release of his debut album, the rapper (real name Calvin Broadus) told the reporter, “When I rapped in the hallways at school, I would draw such a big crowd that the principal would think there was a fight going on.” Broadus added, “It made me begin to realise that I had a gift. I could tell that my raps interested people, and that made me interested in myself.”

However, despite being a self-confessed choirboy and pianist at his local church, the Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church, Snoop yearned to get involved with gang activity as a teenager to accompany his rapping. Already enrolled in ‘Rolling 20s’ Crips of Long Beach by 1989, Broadus had been arrested for cocaine possession. Still, before his arrest for Class A drugs in 1989, Snoop was most definitely in possession of other drugs, most notably cannabis.

Before his cocaine debacle, when Snoop Dogg entered high school in the mid-’80s, he was a courier of cannabis. At this time, he was a student at Long Beach Polytechnic High School with another future celebrity, renowned actor Cameron Diaz. In an interview iwth mode Naomi Campbell in her web series No Filter With Naomi Campbell, Diaz was asked, “Did you ever bump into Snoop Dogg in the corridors?” To which Diaz replied, “Yeah, girl!”

Both misguided and rebellious teens, in a candid interview with George Lopez in 2011, Diaz disclosed a little bit more about her and Snoop’s mischevious relationship in high school. Recalling her interactions with Broadus, Diaz divulged, “We went to high school together. He was a year older than me. He was very tall and skinny and wore lots of ponytails in his hair, and I’m pretty sure I bought weed from him. I had to have.”

Snoop appeared on the same evening talk show a few months after Diaz, and upon Lopez showing the rapper a clip of Diaz revealing their little secret, Broadus laughed and confirmed, “I might’ve sold her some of that white girl weed.” You can watch a clip of Cameron Diaz recalling Snoop Dogg at high school in the video below.
