The gory 50 Cent movie that made a professional cameraman faint
‘In Da Club’ emcee, 50 Cent, is one of the wealthiest rappers of all time. However, during the late-2000s, he began transitioning from music into Hollywood and now, he is just as renowned for his work in TV and film as he is for music.
Whether it’s Power or Den Of Thieves, the lyricist has been a huge success in Hollywood and shows no sign of slowing down. That said, as a producer and writer, 50 Cent has contributed to some pretty disturbing scenes, and one in particular was so gory that it made a cameraman pass out on set.
In 2022, 50 Cent and his team began filming a horror movie he had co-written, Skill House. The film was described as a “Social Media Slasher” and a “dark satire of social media and influencer culture.”
During the filming of Skill House hip-hop media outlet TMZ published some behind-the-scenes clips from the set showing just how gory and bloody the film was going to be. However, one of the most important men behind the camera got so nauseous that he crashed to the ground during one of the kill scenes.
The camera operator was knocked out for 30 minutes and it was reported straight away by the film’s director, Josh Stolberg. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the filmmaker wrote, “Yikes!!! We shot a kill scene last night, and the camera operator became so nauseated that he passed out and the camera crashed to the ground. Had to stop for a 1/2 hour,” he said. “He’s okay now, but…get ready for some crazy s***!” 50 Cent wasn’t actually present at the time, but he also commented on the incident on Instagram, telling his followers, “We’re elevating horror to the next level,” he said. “This is gonna change the rules of the game.”
Several rappers have contributed to horror films in the past. Busta Rhymes appeared in the iconic film Halloween: Resurrection, and West Coast legend Snoop Dogg even starred in the 2001 horror movie Bones.
Although Skill House was filmed and promoted with clips and trailers on social media, the 2022 recording was seemingly for nothing as the film, which was due to be released in 2023, never came to fruition despite it having been produced from start to finish.
When the trailer was released on YouTube, viewers didn’t respond kindly. One user wrote, “Probably the most expensive low-budget looking movie ever made. The Room might have some competition,” while another added, “Not gonna lie, it looks trash and cheap!”
Although it was scheduled to come out last year, some are still praying it gets released, although that is highly unlikely as it has not been promoted since 2022.
