Last year, The Game was snubbed for the Super Bowl halftime spectacle, but he hasn’t let it bother him as he praises 50 Cent and Dr. Dre for their work on The Documentary album. The Compton-born rapper celebrated the anniversary of The Documentary in an Instagram post earlier this week.
In his social media post, The Game acknowledged his old collaborator and friend (despite recent beef) 50 Cent and former mentor and producer Dr. Dre while reflecting on his breakthrough second album, which arrived in January 2005.
“18 years ago today…. A hip hop classic was born,” The Game wrote. “All I wanted to do was tell my story & make sure my son would never live the life I did. @snoopdogg passed me the torch, @bustarhymes kept me focused… @drdre laid the foundation & @50cent helped put the puzzle together.”
“I took @jonathanmannion to the depths of Compton, California & showed him the heart of what I survived,” he added. “He captured the essence of my city, my hood & brought to the world my vision. Always remember, it is no longer a dream once it becomes reality.”
The Game has feuded with 50 Cent for several years, but old wounds were reopened at the 2022 Super Bowl. The Game was notably upset after being left out of Dr. Dre’s Super Bowl halftime performance, during which he invited 50 to the stage.
50 Cent then mocked his rival with a post on social media after winning an Emmy for Best Variety Special for the performance. “Oh no, i’m sorry you don’t get one,” 50 Cent posted on Instagram. “Then the first week 18k, if you need someone to talk to i’m here for you. LOL.”
The Game had a sweet taste of revenge when 50 Cent’s son Marquise Jackson vented a family dispute online. He took this opportunity to mock 50 Cent’s weak relationship with Marquise Jackson on social media to return the favour.
