Taylor Swift to feature on new Kendrick Lamar album
According to producer DJ Snake, who has worked with the likes of Travis Scott, Cardi B, and 21 Savage, Taylor Swift is set to reunite with Kendrick Lamar on his upcoming album. The French musician made the claim during a recent interview in French.
The hitmaker, known for his many singles including ‘Turn Down for What’ and ‘Let Me Love You’, shared the information while calling it a “world premiere.”
Lamar and Swift previously collaborated in 2015 on a remix of ‘Bad Blood’. K.Dot finished his verse in just a few takes during a session in Los Angeles, saying, “The vibe was right,” and credited their chemistry in the studio as to why it was such a simple collaboration to complete.
He raps in the song, “It was my season for battle wounds, battle scars, body bumped, bruised/ Stabbed in the back; brimstone, fire jumping through/ Still, love my life, I got money and power/ And you gotta live with the bad blood now.”
During their beef earlier this year, Drake took shots at Kendrick Lamar for working with Taylor Swift. On ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’, he rapped, “Make another one for the Swifties.” Kendrick responded to Drake by cleverly recruiting Swift’s frequent producer, Jack Antonoff, to produce ‘6:16 in LA’. Now, it seems he’s going a step further with another collaboration.
Drake’s comments were a little bizarre considering he had previously filmed a commercial with Apple Music that saw him singing along to Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’.
There’s been a lot of chatter about Kendrick Lamar releasing a new album throughout 2024. In June, K.Dot collaborator Terrace Martin, who produced songs across his DAMN., To Pimp a Butterfly and good kid m.A.A.d city albums, said he was “locked in” with the ‘Not Like Us’ rapper.
TDE affiliate Devin Malik, who has worked with the likes of ScHoolboy Q and Isaiah Rashad, also added fuel to the conversation by claiming that Kendrick’s new album was “on the way.”
Kendrick Lamar’s last album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, was released in 2022 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 295,000 units in its first week. Fans have been eagerly anticipating a new project following his impressive run of diss tracks towards Drake.
