Producer Tay Keith laid to rest at Memphis funeral service
Tay Keith was laid to rest in Memphis this week following his death at the age of 29.
The hip-hop producer was found dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18th, with no foul play suspected.
Keith’s funeral took place on June 30th and was attended by collaborators such as Sexyy Red and BlocBoy JB. Producer Turbo was also at the service.
Shortly after his passing, Keith’s family paid tribute in a statement that acknowledged who he was as a person and his career achievements.
“It’s with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of BryTavious ‘Tay Keith’ Chambers,” it read. “BryTavious was a visionary producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural force whose work helped define the sound of a generation. From Memphis to the global stage, he shaped countless hit records and left a lasting mark on music and culture.”
It continued, “Above all, BryTavious was a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend. While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious – a source of love, strength, laughter, and guidance. We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided, and the lives he touched.”
His loved ones previously celebrated his life at a vigil last week, which included speeches from family members.
His aunt said, “We’re really doing this for the death of our nephew. It’s heartbreaking, but at the same time, we appreciate everybody for coming out and celebrating with us.”
Then, his uncle added, “He was a phenomenal human being. He was kind, he was intelligent. I would say even brilliant. He was the first one in our family to actually go to college and graduate with a degree.”
