T.I. arrested at Atlanta airport following mistaken identity

Rapper T.I. was arrested on August 4th at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in a case of mistaken identity.

The music artist’s real name is Clifford Harris, which is also the name of a wanted individual in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, which led to the arrest of the rapper. The suspect is wanted by authorities over allegedly stalking a woman, using violent behaviour, and possibly owning a firearm.

Following his arrest on August 4th, T.I. was taken to Fulton County Jail. However, he was automatically given an extradition hearing due to the arrest being issued in another state. Following a phone call from his attorney, Steve Sadow, the rapper was released within two hours.

Not only was the other Clifford Harris from a different state to T.I., but there are also notable differences in their physical appearances. Significantly, the wanted suspect is 205 pounds whereas the rapper is 40 pounds lighter.

Earlier this year, T.I. and his wife, Tinie Harris, became embroiled in another legal matter after a woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by the couple in a hotel room in 2005, which the married pair vehemently deny.

In a statement provided to TMZ in January, the couple claimed they had been threatened for three years by the anonymous individual before the lawsuit was submitted, telling the publication, “On the heels of positivity, negativity always rears its ugly head. This plaintiff has been threatening to file this lawsuit for THREE years.”

“For THREE years, we have emphatically and categorically denied these allegations. For THREE years we have maintained our innocence and refused to pay these extortionate demands for things we didn’t do,” they continued.

The message concluded: “For THREE years, we’ve maintained the same position while the claims in this story have changed time and time again. Our position is clear… We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down, and we look forward to our day in court.”

T.I. is yet to comment on his arrest relating to mistaken identity on August 4th.
