T.I. admits André 3000 gave him an “ass-whooping”
T.I. has claimed that André 3000 gave him an “ass-whooping” in 2012.
Tip collaborated with the Outkast legend on ‘Sorry’ from his eighth album, Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head.
During his recent appearance on The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show, T.I. admitted that Three Stacks’ verse on the song completely destroyed his efforts.
“I did my thang, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “I was confident walking in, and he just kept saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it.'”
T.I. recalled 3000 entering the studio with stacks of paper in preparation for his verse. “I wanted to say get him out of there, but I’m like, ‘Man, that’s my record,’ you know what I’m saying?” he joked.
Tip pointed out the part in 3000’s verse where he talked about his relationship with Big Boi, with Outkast being on a hiatus at the time.
“Him talking about him and Big’s situation, I can’t top that,” T.I. said. “What the fuck am I going to do? So, I just left my shit where it was. That was the greatest ass-whooping I’ve received.”
The lines T.I. referenced find 3000 rapping, “This the type of shit that’ll make you call your rap partner/ And say, ‘I’m sorry I’m awkward, my fault for fuckin’ up the tours’/ I hated all the attention so I ran from it/ Fuck it if we did/ But I hope we ain’t lose no fans from it.”
Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head debuted at number two on the Billboard 20 chart with other features from Lil Wayne, R Kelly, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Akon, and many other big names.
