SZA confirms new Kendrick Lamar album is coming soon

Ever since Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef in the summer, fans have been speculating about whether or not Kendrick Lamar is gearing up to release a new album in the near future. The hit song ‘Not Like Us’, his legendary Pop Out show and the announcement he will be playing the Super Bowl halftime show have all led to fans speculating that Lamar is gearing up for something big.

The Compton rapper’s collaborators continue to hint that he is planning to release an album soon. A recent move by SZA indicates that a new project could be coming a lot sooner than people have anticipated.

It all started a week ago when Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) affiliate Devin Malik took to social media to report that a new Kendrick Lamar album was on the way. The message was simple and to the point. He shared a video of himself performing alongside Lamar at the Pop Out and wrote, “Mood cause new k dot album otwwww.” This got a lot of followers excited.

SZA only grew that excitement when she decided to share Malik’s tweet, which has since led to fans speculating whether the new album will feature another Kendrick Lamar and SZA collaboration.

Fans on social media started speculating about potential release dates and artists who could feature on the record. Terrace Martin also took to social media to say that he’s excited for a new Kendrick Lamar album to drop, whenever that might be.

“Aye, let me tell y’all the records I’m excited for. I’m excited for YG’s album, I’m excited for Mustard’s album. I’m excited for a lot of people, but there’s two albums, I’m going crazy, I can’t wait ‘til they drop,” he said when discussing some of the records he’s most excited for, “Roddy Ricch album and whenever Kendrick drops his album, I’m excited for those two.”

Martin continued, capturing many people’s sentiment, “Those two Compton artists is like, I’m excited. So much shit bubbling, you know?”

Rumours have also circulated that Kendrick Lamar will announce a tour after his Super Bowl halftime show. Until then, the only tangible thing Kendrick Lamar fans can look forward to is his halftime performance, set to occur in New Orleans in February. No details about the performance or who might join Kendrick Lamar on stage have been leaked, but it promises to be a good show.
