Soulja Boy accused of sexually assaulting woman out of fear he was going to jail
A woman sued Soulja Boy on sexual assault allegations in 2021. Jane Doe claimed she was subjected to sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, emotional distress, unpaid overtime and a hostile work environment while serving as his assistant.
The ‘Crank That’ rapper (real name Deandre Way), who denies the allegations against him, appeared in a California courtroom on March 13th for the start of the trial. In an opening statement, his lawyer claimed he never hired the woman and that they had a consensual romantic relationship.
The lawsuit alleges Soulja Boy beat and raped Jane Doe over two years, which came to an end in 2020. She claims he sexually assaulted her for the first time in February 2019, weeks after she moved in with the rapper and was earning $500 a week.
She alleges Soulja Boy forced himself onto her while hiding in a bathroom when his home was raided by law enforcement. His arrest led to him spending three months in jail for a probation violation related to his conviction for possessing a loaded revolver in a car in 2014.
Her lawyer, Ron Zambrano, said, “She was told she had to get rid of guns because Mr. Way was concerned they were after the guns that would have violated his probation. This was the first time he sexually assaulted her, in the bathroom, because he thought he was going to prison and was never going to be with a woman for a little while.”
He claimed Jane Doe suffered “violence and abuse” in a highly toxic romantic relationship between them. Soulja Boy has been accused of manipulating the woman with apologies and proclamations of love; she allegedly felt “isolated” until one of his friends gave her a lawyer’s number that helped her build the courage to leave.
She claims Soulja Boy punched her in the head in 10 different incidents, which once resulted in her losing consciousness and waking up in a locked room.
