Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa tease 'Mac & Devin Go to High School' sequel

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa are working on a sequel to their iconic stoner comedy Mac & Devin Go to High School. The two rappers have been teasing the new project on social media, with Snoop previously signalling that the sequel was in the works last summer.

The film is set to arrive over a decade after the original movie came out in July 2012. In a recent Instagram post, the West Coast rapper wrote: “High school reunion comin summer 23 @wizkhalifa.” The caption was featured alongside a photo of the two rappers posing together.

Khalifa commented with the line: “I literally love this n-gga. I look hella short bro.” The Pittsburgh native went on to describe him and Snoop as “the new Cheech and Chong.”

Mac & Devin Go to High School tells the story of high school students Mac Johnson and Devin Overstreet – played by of Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa – who become friends after bonding over their love of getting high. The movie went straight to DVD but has become something of a modern cult classic.

The film’s soundtrack was released in December 2011 and included Snoops and Wiz’s chart-topping single ‘Young, Wild & Free’ feat Bruno Mars. The track peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been certified 6x platinum. The sequel to Mac & Devin was first teased back in 2014, with Snoop declaring that the movie would arrive in January 2015. Sadly, it’s been pushed back time and time again.

Speaking about his love of Snoop back in 2018, Wiz Khalifa told Build magazine: “Snoop is my homie, my homie, my mentor, my partner, my brother. It’s always good to have him involved and coaching me on,. The main thing he always does is just make sure that I’m being myself. He’s like, ‘Wiz, you so awesome, you so cool, people love you so much. You don’t have to be like anybody. You don’t gotta be like Snoop Dogg, you don’t gotta be like this person, just always be Wiz.’ That’s the most important thing he always tells me.”
