Snoop Dogg slams Grammys for constantly snubbing him

Now that the 2023 edition of the Grammy Awards is over, the debate regarding the winners and losers of the ceremony continues. With notable wins going to the likes of Beyoncé and Lizzo, history was made this year; but not everyone was happy. Disgruntled rapper Snoop Dogg has taken to social media to alert fans to the fact that he still hasn’t won a Grammy, despite 20 nominations.

The California rapper took to his Instagram to share his frustration towards the Grammys. He shared a screenshot of a tweet that listed the rappers with the most Grammy wins. Jay-Z and Kanye West top the list with 24 each, with Kendrick Lamar at 17, Eminem at 15 and Pharrell at 13.

Keeping his thoughts succinct, the ‘Murder was the Case’ musician wrote: “Snoop dogg. 20 nominations. 0 wins”. The words were followed by emojis of a fist, dog footprints and sardonic applause. It has been noted that Snoop’s feelings aren’t unwarranted, as he is the rapper with the most Grammy nominations to have never won. The list also includes heavyweights such as Nicki Minaj, DMX, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, and Pusha T, as well as The Notorious B.I.G. and 2PAC.

Over the years, Snoop has been nominated in a host of categories. These have been Best Rap Song, Best Rap Solo Performance, the former Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Performance By A Duo/Group, as well as Best Reggae Album. He’s also twice been the contender for Album of the Year for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly and Katy Perry’s 2010 record Teenage Dream.

Elsewhere, when appearing in the Dionne Warwick documentary,  Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over, earlier this year, Snoop claimed that the singer “out-gangstered” him early in his career.
