Snoop Dogg provides positive update on new album with Dr Dre
Long Beach legend Snoop Dogg has provided fans with an update about his high-anticipated upcoming joint album with Dr Dre, Missionary. The exciting project is set to arrive in December, and the whole culture is looking forward to hearing it. The Doggystyle creator took to Instagram on October 27th to share a photo about the album.
The ‘Gin N Juice’ rhymer shared a boomerang video of him standing in front of a display that showed the three logos involved in the creation of Missionary, Death Row, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope. The album has been carefully crafted by Snoop, Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine.
The music playing on the post was Dr Dre’s legendary 1999 track, ‘The Next Episode’ and Snoop captioned the post: “Missionary. December paw print emoji, fire emoji, bicep emoji, singing microphone emoji, three paw print emojis].”
A buzz has slowly been building around the project in recent months, and during an appearance on the Bootleg Kev podcast, country singer Jelly Roll revealed that he would be appearing on the album.
Speaking with Kev, the vocalist stated, “I won’t say anything about the record because he didn’t, but man, it’s special. It is really good. I’m legitimately on the Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre album. It’s crazy. It’s unreal.”
He even explained how he got asked to do the track, disclosing, “Dude, Jimmy [Iovine] hits John [Meneilly] and says, ‘Can we get on a FaceTime with Jelly Roll and Dre?’ I’m like, ‘Dr. Dre?!’ I get on a FaceTime from my back porch. I’m like a kid! Jimmy’s there and I’m already like, ‘I cannot believe it’s Jimmy Iovine.’”
When Dre got on the phone, according to Jelly, “[He said,] ‘I got this crazy idea. I can send you something, or you can write something and send it back, or you can come here, and we can write something.’ When he said that, I was like, there’s no way he expected me to do any other option. I was like, ‘If coming and writing with you is an option, I’m coming.’”
The ‘Son Of A Sinner’ vocalist concluded, “It was the most awesome session I ever did. I walked in was just like, the biggest warm hug. […] It was really fun. […] I had a moment where I was like, I belong in those rooms! [In my mind], I’m still the kid coming to the lunch table. I wanna prove that I deserve the table, and I came in with that kind of attitude, and it was really cool.”
