Snoop Dogg confirms his mother, Beverly Tate, has passed away

The iconic West Coast rapper, Snoop Dogg has confirmed that his mother, Beverly Tate, has passed away at the age of 70.

Over the weekend, the rapper took to social media to share a series of posts that confirmed her passing including: “Mama thank u for having me,” which captioned a picture of the rapper and his mother.

The tributes continued too as he shared another photo of Tate with the caption “Thank u god for giving me an angel”. It was soon followed with a video of Snoop listening to ‘Giving Love’ by The Voices of East Harlem captioned with a broken heart.

“Walk by faith not by sight,” he said in another upload. “Smile snoopy that’s what U would say when it was time to take a picture.”

A cause of death has not yet been confirmed however Tate was believed to have been in hospital since May. “Gotta stay strong, keep pushing on,” Snoop said in a video at the time.

“They say God don’t put nothing on your shoulders you can’t handle. I’m being tested right now, ya’ll. Make sure ya’ll pray for me and my family.”

On Monday, Snoop shared another tribute to his mother from one of his performances when he addressed the crowd and said: “Before we leave, we’re gonna play this record for my mama. And I want you all to sing this record with me,” as Ben E. King’s classic ‘Stand by Me’ plays out.
