Snoop Dogg addresses Drake’s beef with Kendrick Lamar

Snoop Dogg recently released his joint album with Dr Dre, Missionary. With tracks featuring Eminem, 50 Cent and more, the record may be one of Snoop’s last. That said, the West Coast legend who has produced an unfathomable amount of music recently opened up about Kendrick Lamar and his beef with Drake earlier this year.

Following the success of Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us,‘ Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group, accusing the record label of using streaming bots and colluding with Spotify and iHeartRadio to boost the track’s popularity. However, this has drawn a lot of attention to Lamar, and K Dot’s victory has been seen in hip-hop as a win for Compton and California more broadly.

Early in the battle, Drake attempted to use Snoop’s voice on the diss track ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’ by using AI, but during a recent interview with Bootleg Kev, Tha Doggfather creator admitted he disapproved of Drake’s track and wasn’t too pleased with his actions.

Opening up about the beef, Snoop explained, “I don’t wanna be in nobody’s shit, man! I like being in my own shit. See, I’m such a big figure. I’m Uncle Snoop. I’m accessible to everybody so everybody feels like they can because I don’t have too many parameters when it comes to me.”

Snoop continued, “But when it comes to beef, that’s a real parameter that I do have. I don’t get in nobody’s beef. I’m usually the one who ends the beef.”

Many questioned why Snoop Dogg didn’t intervene and stick up for Kendrick, and Lamar even addressed the Long Beach musician on his GNX track ‘Wacced Out Murals’, rapping, “Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go!”

Still, Snoop told Bootleg Kev that he doesn’t interfere in beefs and said he would rather allow “two men to get an understanding” on their own instead of inserting himself into the mix. Emphasising this, he added, “They don’t need me to take sides or jump in. I’m from the West so my heart lies on the West.”

However, when the topic of the conversation moved to Drake’s court case, Snoop laughed at the notion of filing a lawsuit over a diss track and told viewers, “You know, on the West, we hold court in the streets. That’s just what we call it.”

Although many are calling Drake’s filings a lawsuit, thus far, he has only filed pre-action petitions. Snoop, meanwhile, is not too focused on Drake, Jay-Z or the ongoing drama in hip-hop but instead is enjoying the Missionary rollout.
