Skilla Baby has been injured in a drive-by shooting. The Detroit rapper (real name Trevon Gardner) was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the 8 Mile area of his hometown on May 22nd.

Reports say 26-year-old Skilla was struck twice in the back of the head and back, as well as on his hand. He reportedly crashed into a building off the road after being targeted in a black SUV that was shot at several times.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, Skilla is alert and expected to survive his injuries. Evidence markers with bullet casings were found on 8 Mile, with police yet to find the suspect as of Thursday night.

Skilla Baby has over a million followers on his Instagram account. In November, he released his latest album, Crack Music 3, via Universal Music Group’s Geffen Records, having signed to the label in 2022.

The 16-track project features Tee Grizzley, 4Batz, Toosi, Hunxho, and Peezy. His biggest songs on Spotify, ‘Mama’ and ‘Gorgeous’, boast over 26 million and 22 million streams, respectively.

Skilla was part of the XXL Freshman Class in 2024. He told XXL about his future, “I’m bringing a breath of fresh air to music right now. Last year, I thought I was slighted, but then I started talking to people and then realising that I bring something to music this year. It’s not that people just know me.

“I bring a difference to music. I feel like I’m shape-shifting music, changing music, [making] people want to do what I do in music, perform how I perform. So, I feel like this year is the year for me. I think this is my year.”
