Skepta goes back to his roots on ‘Plugged In’ freestyle

Skepta has reminded everyone why he’s been at the forefront of the British scene for nearly 20 years as he returns to his roots for his ‘Plugged In’ freestyle.

At the top of the track, the grime hero raps, “I hope you brush your teeth before you talk about the big boss, Brand new bedsheets covered in your wifey’s lip gloss, You was at the top but you slipped off (Wasteman).” It’s a return to the gunslinging form of grime’s heyday.

The ‘Plugged In’ series sees artists take to the booth with Fumez The Engineer, and ‘Big Smoke’ looked in his element as he delivered a slew of fire bars during his appearance.

Most importantly, it’s good to just have Skepta around, and his presence isn’t something to take for granted after he hinted at retirement earlier this year.

Of course, Skeppy personally fuelled the speculation earlier this year when he posted a cryptic message about his appearance on Jae5’s song, ‘Dimension’.

However, thankfully, he returned with his All In EP and addressed the retirement talk during an IG Live, when he said, “I could never quit music. I don’t know who’s pushing that narrative, pushing that agenda that Skeppy is stopping music and all that. How? I am music.”
