Seth Rogen reveals the “surprising” Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs invite he turned down
Seth Rogen has revealed that Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs once extended a “surprising” invite.
The actor is currently promoting his latest movie, The Invite, in which he stars alongside Olivia Wilde, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz.
During a recent episode of Entertainment Weekly‘s “Lie vs. Lie” series, Rogen opened up about the time Combs came over to him at a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Yountville, California.
“I’m glad I didn’t do this,” he began. “Many years ago, me and my wife were at The French Laundry, one of the fanciest restaurants in the world, and at the table beside us was… Puff Daddy.”
Wilde, who was sitting next to him in the segment, reacted by shutting her eyes and pressing her lips together.
“Puff Daddy came over to me and my wife and he said, ‘What are you guys doing tomorrow morning?'” Rogen recalled. “And we said, ‘We’re here actually scouting wedding locations.’ We weren’t married at the time. And he said, ‘Well, if you have time, would you like to come hot air ballooning with me?'”
Rogen, a big hip-hop fan, confirmed that the story was true and that he declined the offer. “I said ‘no’, which I’m very happy about,” he said. “Because the last thing I need in the world is a photo of me on a hot air balloon alone with Puff Daddy, waving and smiling and holding glasses of rosé.”
In October, Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Rogen almost collaborated with Combs in 2016 on the Sausage Party movie. However, the rapper turned down the role of a bottle of Courvoisier when he found out it was animated and not live-action.
