Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs receives sentencing date

A date has been set for Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs’ sentencing. The Bad Boy rapper was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution last week, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years.

Judge Arun Subramanian announced that Combs will be sentenced on October 3rd. Until then, he will remain behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, agreed to the timeline on July 8th, having previously opposed the date. His team requested an earlier sentencing, but settled with October.

In a letter from Agnifilo filed with the court, it was proposed that the defence file any post-verdict motions by July 30th, and the government respond by August 20th.

Combs was acquitted of racketeering and two counts of sex trafficking, meaning he won’t be facing life in prison. Each of his prostitution charges carries sentences of up to 10 years.

Following the verdict, Combs requested $1 million bail, but the judge denied his request, citing his history of violence.

OJ Simpson’s famed lawyer, Robert Shapiro, recently stated that he thinks Combs could face a hefty sentence.

“Having seen that this judge did not release him on bail, I think a message may be coming that you’re going to be spending a lot more time, so no reason to let you come out and come back in,” he said.

“If the judge looks at that tape in his mind and is reminded about it again… I think there is a real chance that a substantial sentence will be forthcoming.”
