Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs no longer on suicide watch, new report claims
A new report has claimed that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is no longer on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Combs has been retained in detention at the Brooklyn facility following sex trafficking and racketeering charges brought against him on September 16th when he was arrested in New York. Due to being viewed as a flight risk, Combs has been denied bail and will remain in custody until he faces trial.
The local authorities are still yet to reveal when Combs is set to face trial, but he is set to make a court appearance in early October. The ongoing lawsuit claims that he ran a vast network which facilitated sexual crimes and committed acts of sexual violence on a number of people over the years.
It was previously reported by People that Combs, who denies all of the charges, had been placed on suicide watch in Brooklyn. Sources told the publication that this preventative measure has been taken due to Combs’ shock, with his mental state unclear.
According to the U.S Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections, suicide watch is the “supervisory precautions taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation.”
The Brooklyn facility houses 1,600 inmates and is notorious for its dangerous reputation. In their motion for Combs’ bail, his lawyers claimed that “several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center are not fit for pre-trial detention”.
In a new update from People, the publication claims that Combs is no longer on suicide watch. A lawyer representing the hip-hop mogul said: “He is focused and very strong. He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial.”
Furthermore, the publication also claimed that Combs has received visits from family since being put on remand in Brooklyn.
The latest development comes after his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, confirmed that the rapper plans to testify at his upcoming trial.
In a teaser trailer for TMZ’s documentary, The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment, Agnifilo admitted of the forthcoming trial: “I don’t know that I could keep him off the stand. I think he’s very eager to tell his story.”
His latest comments come after Agnifilo previously said on September 16th following Combs’ arrest, “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts.”
