Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs lawyers respond to latest indictment
Federal prosecutors in New York have added new charges against Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs as they add to the list of charges based on supposed new evidence. The Bad Boy founder, thus far, faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Combs’ trial is less than a month away. However, this has not stopped federal prosecutors from refiling the original indictment for the third time with additional charges. The new charges added include new counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and one more count of transportation to engage in prostitution.
The prosecutors have asserted that the timeline of the allegations made on the superseding indictment happened between 2021 and 2024. The latest rendition of the indictment is not the result of a new lawsuit. Instead, it relates to a plaintiff who has already filed a lawsuit simply identified as “Victim 2.”
Combs’ legal team have responded to the prosecutors’ actions and, in a statement, expressed, “These are not new allegations or new accusers. These are the same individuals, former long-term girlfriends, who were involved in consensual relationships. This was their private sex life, defined by consent, not coercion.”
According to the new superseding indictment, Combs “recruited, enticed, harboured, transported, and maintained Victim-2, and attempted, aided and abetted, and willfully caused Victim 2, to engage in commercial sex acts, knowing and in reckless disregard of the fact that Victim 2 was engaging in commercial sex acts as a result of force, fraud, and coercion.”
There are also accusations of alleged kidnapping and claims that he dangled this victim over a balcony. While the superseding indictment is filed, Combs’ team continue to deny all allegations made against the mogul and has insisted the “truth will prevail” in court.
If there are no setbacks, Combs pre-trial conference will take place on April 25th. Following this recent saga, the Bad Boy mogul now faces five criminal charges in total, with the only single-count allegation being racketeering.
Combs denies all allegations of wrongdoing and has pled not guilty to the charges.
