Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs planning to counsel domestic violence abusers

Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs is planning to become an anti-domestic violence counsellor to avoid prison. The Bad Boy rapper allegedly wants to “help in whatever ways he can to kind of encourage other people not to do this and really to help in positive ways in the future.”

Combs is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and facing up to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

According to his attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, Combs wants to counsel domestic violence abusers as part of his redemption plan.

“That’s something that he actively wants to pursue in the future,” she told Business Insider. “The idea is that he would work with programs and be able to go in and talk to people, talk to youth, talk to others about the issue in a proactive way and be an advocate for this. And sometimes, people like him can be the best spokesperson to try to help.”

However, many people have opposed Combs’ intentions. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Douglas Wigdor, the victims’ rights attorney who represents Cassie, stated, “This is utterly preposterous.”

A source who claims Combs assaulted them added, “How are you going to counsel someone else when you haven’t done the work on yourself? This is manipulation at its best.”

Another alleged victim said, “It’s [making] a mockery of the system. It’s a mockery of everyone he’s harmed. He needs intensive therapy.”

Judge Arun Subramanian will sentence Combs on October 3rd. Since the July verdict, he’s been denied bail twice and is seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump.
