Rod Wave announces new album ‘Don’t Look Down’
Rod Wave has announced his new album.
The Florida rapper has been topping the Billboard 200 chart for years with his many albums, and now he’s set to release another project.
On June 16th, Rod revealed that his new album, titled Don’t Look Down, will be released on August 28th.
The announcement comes with a trailer that finds Rod saying, “No more sneaky business, no more side deals. Keep building our own machine. Keep going and don’t look down. Album.”
At the end of the clip, a new song is previewed. In the snippet, he sings, “I am the chosen one/ The only one they banking on/ Real shit, that raw shit they waiting on.”
During an interview with Billboard last year, Rod revealed the project was nearly finished and told fans what to expect.
“As far as the new album, I’m about 85 per cent done with it,” he said. Growth. I feel like every album, as I grow older, is different. I paint a different picture, because I’m a different version of myself. Every album’s a different chapter. I feel like it’s all real life stuff.”
He continued, “We all can agree that life goes up and down. So every year, what I basically do is I just talk about where life has taken me up to that point, and people connect with it. We’re all growing up together. People who listened to Ghetto Gospel all the way to SoulFly and Last Lap, these are the same people.”
Rod released his last album, Last Lap, in October 2024, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 with 127,000 units in its first week. His three albums before that, Nostalgia, Beautiful Mind, and SoulFly, all debuted at number one.
