Rick Ross threatens Remy Ma with legal action

Rick Ross is threatening legal action against Remy Ma with a cease-and-desist letter.

The Miami rapper claims Remy ripped off his nickname and music with her upcoming movie, The Biggest Boss, on The Remy Network.

According to TMZ, Rozay’s lawyers allege that the film includes unauthorised use of his music and trade name.

As a result, he wants to stop the project from going forward. Ross claims the name has confused his fans, citing many comments on social media.

The plot for The Biggest Boss follows a police officer who steals a drug dealer’s life story and turns it into a career as a rapper.

The story is similar to Ross’ career path, having worked as a correctional officer in Florida for around two years in the 1990s before a successful rap career.

The trailer includes his 2008 song ‘The Boss’, a collaboration with T-Pain that appeared on his Trilla album.

In a statement, Remy’s representative said, “Remy was personally unaware of the concerns raised regarding ‘The Biggest Boss’ and takes the matter seriously. She has maintained a personal and professional relationship with Rick Ross for more than 20 years and would never intentionally engage in any action that could harm his brand or cause offence.”

They continued, “[Remy] has also reached out to [Ross] directly. Upon being made aware of the issue, the title was immediately removed from the platform. The Remy Network is now working closely with its partners to strengthen review processes and ensure that situations like this do not occur moving forward.”

Billboard reports that Ma took down the trailer on March 18th, renaming the movie The C.O. without using Ross’ music. The next steps are unclear, considering Ross asked to “cease with production of the movie and halt any scheduled release.”
