Rick Ross talks up chances of ‘Verzuz’ battle against Jay-Z

Rick Ross has discussed the possibility of a ‘Verzuz’ battle against Jay-Z, and he’s game to take on ‘Hov’.

The series was created by Timbaland and Swiss Beatz at the start of the pandemic in 2020, initially on Instagram Live. They pair up legendary figures from the hip hop scene and pit their back catalogues against one another while audiences watching at home declare a winner after it goes the full 20 rounds.

Since its incarnation, it has massively grown with KRS One and Big Daddy Kane recently headlining a ‘Verzuz’ event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Their events are also available to stream on Triller, YouTube, Fite TV, and Facebook.

Ross has now declared his interest in stepping up to battle Jay-Z and stated his intent during an interview on The Real to promote his new album, Richer Than I Ever Been.

“JAY-Z… Yeah! Why not?” the rapper responded when they brought up a potential battle. “To me, that’s what makes ‘Verzuz’ special because it brings out the best in both parties.”

He continued, “That’s a possibility, but I gotta give my flowers to the big homie. I got to. My homie gave me my first opportunity signing me to Def Jam Records, and he’s one-of-one.”
