Rick Ross reveals he suffered seizure while high on mushrooms
Rick Ross has opened up about recently suffering a seizure while high on psychedelic mushrooms.
The Miami rapper is set to release his new book titled The Renaissance of a Boss on May 12th, 2026.
In his third memoir, Ross reveals he had a seizure after taking mushrooms when he was watching a 2022 movie starring Will Smith.
“The night I was on shrooms watching Emancipation by the iconic Will Smith, and I went on a bad trip,” he told TMZ. “Ultimately, I had a seizure. It was like that.”
Ross has experienced multiple seizures in the past. In October 2011, he had two seizures while flying. He admitted that he hadn’t slept for eight hours a night in five years, explaining, “It was a case of me not getting enough sleep, not getting enough rest.”
Then, in 2018, he had a seizure at home as a result of codeine, alcohol, and other substances, which required CPR from his friends.
The synopsis for his new book, The Renaissance of a Boss, reads, “After several false starts – including a failed attempt at climbing Mount Kilimanjaro – Ross hits the open road in search of answers to life’s big questions.”
It continues, “The epic journey takes Ross to Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo and ultimately a Native American sweat lodge ceremony in Santa Fe.”
Speaking on the memoir, Ross told People, “This isn’t just a book; it’s a manual for greatness. I’m cutting out the noise and showing you that when you execute with precision, success is too easy.”
This will be Ross’ third book, following 2019’s Hurricanes: A Memoir and 2021’s The Perfect Day to Boss Up: A Hustler’s Guide to Building Your Empire.
